my small kitchen
cabinet above stove
broiler
upper left cabinet
upper right cabinet, above sink
I like my small kitchen, especially since I switched the cabinet doors, because of the wide cabinets, and large ss sink. The cabinet above the stove holds candles and misc decorative pieces not being used at the moment. The broiler holds my 2 pots, 1 pan, griddle and strainer (yup that's all I have).
The upper left cabinet is my pantry and coffee/tea area. The upper right cabinet is for serving pieces. I know I have a lot of glasses, but I love and use them all. The glass bowls on the lower shelf is actually a set of 9 nesting bowls, but many are currently in the fridge holding fruit, eggs, nuts, etc.
Go here for more details. The lower cabinets and boxes above the fridge will be in the next post...
Simple, uncluttered, and there is still some empty space in your cabinets and drawers. Love all of that.
ReplyDeletehi, i just want to let you know that i enjoyed your blog so much. You're such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteKeep blogging!
You've convinced me that it's safe to get rid of a bunch of dishes I don't use. (I'm always afraid I'll need them for entertaining, but I never do.)
ReplyDeleteI do have a whole shelf-full of coffee mugs, which I will keep. :)
thanks so much :O)
ReplyDeleteOk, I realize people with small kitchens don't cook much (I used to be one of them) but still, where is all your food? Like pasta, rice, tomato paste or whatever else people consider "staples". I used to have a kitchen smaller than this, so I almost never cooked, but when I did it would still require dry pantry kind of items. Spices! Where are your spices? My spice shelf is a disaster... can you blog about spice storage, please.
ReplyDeleteolga, while i don;t really cook, i do eat at home and prefer to not order in a lot.
ReplyDeletei do not cook pasta or rice at home. my staples are eggs, pb+j, salads, cheeses, fruit, mostly fresh things that are in the fridge. i keep minimal frozen things like chicken, edamame, breads. so my 'pantry' is the fridge. i'll have to take a pic of that!
i'm not a foodie, eating is more of a hassle for me than anything so i try to keep it simple. the only spices i have are salt and pepper.
if you go to my flickr page (click on the bolded text in the post where it says 'go here' for more details. i have a set for kitchens.
I really like your efficient kitchen. I'd go all the way with white tea towels, white basket, white tea kettle... and glass or marble cutting surfaces, just to see what it would be like. It's very calming as it is now.
ReplyDeleteoh ...i clicked to enlarge and saw the teapot is one of those heavy beautiful ones from japan --i think i have the same one.
ReplyDeletethe "where is your food" question ~ I used to leave groceries out on the counter along with misc like olive oil and spices, etc... now I put it all away, and everyone seems to like it better that way. They start with a clean empty counter to work on each time they prepare a meal.
Even the insides of your cabinets are beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteyour cabinet is simple, uncluttered, love it.
